Commander James Gordon Liddy is internationally recognized as one of the nation's
premiere experts on counter-terrorism and critical
infrastructure protection. CDR Liddy was assigned
to the Chief of Naval Operation’s
as the Combating Terrorism and Special Operations
Officer where he was the principal architect for
the Navy’s Anti-terrorism Force Protection
Plan, leader of the Navy’s elite Anti-terrorism
Assessment Team (Red Cell) and lead
the creation of DoD's Anti-terrorism and Force Protection
Plan.
CDR Liddy served as the Senior Advisor
to the Director for Strategy and Initiatives for the
Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for
Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict. He
was previously the Chief of Plans and Policy for
the United States Special Operations Command’s
Washington Office. In these positions, he designed
and coordinated policy, operational plans, and information
and strategies initiatives for the Secretary of Defense,
the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Military
Services and other government agencies in support
for the Global War on Terrorism.
Commander Liddy also served in the
National Military Command Center in support of highly
classified operations during operations ENDURING FREEDOM,
PATRIOT RESOLVE and IRAQI FREEDOM. He
has also been a member of the National Security Council
(NSC) Working Group for Regional Response to Terrorism,
and Maritime Counter Terrorism. In addition,
he was an original member of the Chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff's Strategic Planning Team for
the GWOT and has years of counter-terrorism and related
operational experience. As
a SEAL commando, Commander Liddy
conducted special operations missions and activities
in thirty-seven countries. Commander Liddy’s
career has also included working in units, some of
whose activities are still classified, throughout
the Naval Special Warfare, Joint Special Operations,
NATO, Chief of Naval Operations, Joint Staff and
other government agency communities.
CDR Liddy holds a Masters Degree
from the John Hopkins University School of Advanced
International Studies (SAIS), has completed the Information
Operations Curriculum at the National Defense University,
is a Doctoral student in Complex Emergency and Disaster
Management at Tulane University and is
co-author of the New York Times bestseller,
FIGHT BACK, Tackling Terrorism Liddy Style.
